Gloom is a status effect in Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2.
Overview
Gloom
Gloom is a special status effect that reduces a unit's Physical accuracy, Physical evasion, Critical hit rate, and chance to inflict status ailments by 20%. It also increases the chance of receiving Critical hits and status ailments by 20%. Gloom cannot be removed by status ailment recovery effects such as Prayer, and is unaffected by status ailment prevention effects such as Barrier. When a unit affected by Gloom would gain Zenith, Gloom is removed instead.
Super Gloom
Super Gloom is a stronger version of Gloom. It reduces a unit's Physical accuracy, Physical evasion, Critical hit rate, and chance to inflict status ailments by 25%, while increasing the chance of receiving Critical hits and status ailments by 25%.
Super Gloom follows the same duration and removal rules as Gloom and may be treated as Gloom by certain effects. Effects that remove Gloom are also capable of removing Super Gloom.
Interactions with Zenith
- If Super Zenith is applied to a unit affected by Super Gloom, both effects are removed.
- If Super Gloom is applied to a unit affected by Zenith, Zenith is removed and the unit enters a state of Gloom.
- If Zenith is applied to a unit affected by Super Gloom, Super Gloom is downgraded to Gloom instead of granting Zenith.
- Applying Gloom to a unit already affected by Gloom will not result in Super Gloom.
Duration
When Gloom and Zenith interact, the resulting effect will generally use the longer remaining duration.
For example, if Super Zenith (3 turns) is applied to a unit affected by Gloom (2 turns), the unit will enter a state of Zenith for 3 turns.
An exception occurs when Zenith is applied to a unit affected by Super Gloom. In this case, the resulting Gloom retains the remaining duration of Super Gloom.
