Gáe Bulg is the spear of Cu Chulainn in Irish mythology, gifted to the hero by his mentor Scathach after completing his training with her. When thrown into a target like a javelin, it sprouts thirty barbs from the spearhead that spread through the body, resulting in a painful death.

In Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, Gae Bolg is the exclusive skill of Cu Chulainn. It deals medium strength based force damage to a single target and has the additional effect of piercing, always being critical, and is a guaranteed hit.
