The Awagihara system is a concept in Shin Megami Tensei V. It contains the essence of Izanagi and is used by Bethel Japan to create Proto-fiends.

The Awagihara system is named in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance and is explained to be how Bethel Japan creates Proto-fiends. It is revealed that the three pillars containing liquid that are split into three categories; command, logistics, and combat. This liquid is the essence of Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susano-o respectively, having been created by Izanagi dividing his power. From this essence the Awagihara system creates Proto-fiends to fulfill specific purposes, with the logistic type Proto-fiends assisting in governing and guiding Japan, the combat type protecting Japan through battle, and the command type which is capable of both. While the logistic and combat type can be mass produced, due to the power of the command type only one can exist at a time. However due to the significant losses during Armageddon, the essence of Susano-o was depleted due to the over production of the Aogami type Proto-fiends to make up Japan's diminished strength.

Nomenclature

The system is named for Awagihara, the location where Izanagi performed the ritual cleansing which gave birth to Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susano-o.
