Overview

Archetypes are a selection of types that primarily determines which specific skill from a pool of innate skills that a Demon has access to. Archetype also effects how a demon can be fused.

Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2

For standard Demons there are five different Archetypes: Common, Aragami, Protector, Psychic, and Elementalist. Certain demons, such as The Hero and Heroine, have Archetypes with different names, but function identically to their equivalent standard Archetype. All demons do not have access to every Archetype. Demons only available through Banners do not have access to the Common Archetype, while demons only available through Multi-Fusion only have access to Common. A demon's Archetype can be changed using an Arch-Selector or Arch-Shifter, with the exception of Common Archetype demons.

Color Standard Alternate
Grey Common —
Red Aragami[a] Dauntless[b]
Yellow Protector[c] Support[d]
Purple Psychic[e] Finesser[f]
Teal Elementalist[g] Strong Defender[h]

Every Archetype a Demon can access is associated with a different innate skill. Each Archetype (excl. Common) is loosely associated with a type of skill: Aragami/Dauntless skills are generally offensive skills, Protector/Support skills are generally support skills, Psychic/Finesser skills are generally passive skills, and Elementalist/Strong Defender skills are generally resistance skills. Archetype skills are initially locked, but can be used after a demon has been Awakened.

For demons obtained through Banners, Archetype also determines the genome skill they are equipped with. However, Common demons obtained though gacha do not come equipped with genome skills.

Lastly, Archetype determines which demons a demon can be fused with. In standard Fusion, at least one of the materials must be Common Archetype. If both demons are Common, the resultant demon will be Common. If only one demon is Common, the resultant demon will have the Archetype of the other demon used as a material. In Multi-Fusion, all demons used as material must be Common Archetype, and the resultant demon will also be Common Archetype.

Trivia

  • Enishi Matsuri characters were given alternate Archetype names, because the standard names were too heavily associated with supernatural entities.[1]
