Profile
Origin
Aradia is a supposed deity found in Charles Godfrey Leland's 1899 book Aradia, or the Gospel of the Witches, which was based on information given to him by a certain Italian woman named Maddalena, who presented her information, mostly consisting of a manuscript called the Vangelo, as genuine traditions preserved by a small group of Italian pagans. However, it is generally agreed that Maddalena likely invented it in its entirety. Regardless of its authenticity, Leland's book was influential in the Wicca movement in the mid-20th century.
Aradia's falsified origins factor into her portrayal in Nocturne.
