Origin
Apollo,[a] commonly known by the epithet Phoebus[b] ("the bright one"), is a Greek deity associated with archery, the sun, and music. He was believed to communicate with the oracle at Delphi.
Worship of Apollo spread to the Romans by no later than the 5th century BC, and he was not syncretized with any of the native Roman deities.
