Millennium Kingdom is a recurring concept in the Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei series and the Shin Megami Tensei series derived from the Book of Revelation.[1]

Background

In chapter 20 of the Book of Revelation, it is stated that Christ will reign with Christian martyrs for a thousand years after the dragon (Satan) is imprisoned and can no longer deceive the nations.

This has been interpreted various ways by different theologians, with the historically dominant view, amillennialism, being that the thousand years are a metaphor for the present age of the Church.[2][3] A second interpretation, premillennialism, is that the thousand-year reign is a period of time to come into the future after Christ's Second Coming; versions of premillennialism are held especially amongst Evangelical denominations, though many early Christians held a premillennial view as well.[3] A third point of view is postmillennialism, which posits that the thousand-year reign is to occur before Christ's Second Coming and is brought about through the spread of the Gospel.[4]
