Goko is a character in Shin Megami Tensei V.

Profile

Goko is a Buddhist monk who tends Jozoji Temple. He is a polite man who assists Bethel in defending Tokyo.

Goko is a large, muscular man with red skin and tattoos on his forearms. He wears a dark brown and gold patterned bandana on his head, a necklace of prayer beads, and carries a large Buddhist prayer box on his back. He can regularly be seen standing on the tips of his toes.

Goko is initially met after the Nahobino defeats the Hydra. He gives the player a Return Pillar for their trouble, saying that he intended to help at first, but he realized that they didn't need his help. He explains that he's in Da'at because he sensed a disturbance in Tokyo and his investigation led him there.

Later, when the Nahobino is sent to Jozoji Temple to defend it from demons, Goko is there waiting on backup from Bethel. The recent attack had destroyed the temple's barrier, so he enlists the Nahobino to help stave off the advancing demons. After Lahmu is defeated and runs away, he tells the Nahobino to chase after him to protect Jouin High School.

Finally, Goko can be found near the Throne of Creation in the Empyrean, but he refrains from intervene in the battles between Nahobino, because he doesn't care who creates the new world. After Nuwa is defeated, he reveals that his true name is "Amitabha" and that he has watched the world for ages waiting to serve his role as the light of creation. If the Nahobino chooses the Preservation or Reformation endings, he joyfully heralds the birth of a new world with Tao. However, if the Nahobino chooses the Humanity or True Humanity routes, he is disheartened and says that Chaos will continue to grip the world.
