Origin

In the Gospel of John, after Jesus dies on the cross, a Roman soldier stabs him with a spear. He is given the name Longinus in church tradition, and is further identified with a Roman centurion in the other three Gospels who says that Jesus was surely the son of God (in Matthew and Mark) or that he was surely a righteous man (in Luke).

Afterwards, he reconciled his ways and became canonized. Obtaining the Holy Lance of Longinus grants one the power to become the ruler of the world, but losing it means your doom.
