Alfred is a character in Shin Megami Tensei II.
Profile
An elderly man that serves as the butler of the administrator of Valhalla, Madam.
Game Appearances
Shin Megami Tensei II
Alfred is only seen when entering Madam's mansion, welcoming Hawk in each time he enters.
Visionaries
Alfred is featured in two Visionary cutscenes in the Game Boy Advance and iOS versions of the game.
In "Ruby Earrings", Alfred pleads with Madam to talk to the Center about putting more effort into Valhalla prosperity. Due to his persistence, Madam gives in to his request, and then begins to talk about an unnamed man. She admits that she has began to lose the will to live due to his death, and says that they will probably need someone new to protect Valhalla, though Alfred says that the best person to protect Valhalla is someone who is familiar with both it and the Center, and Madam accepts that she is the one who meets those qualifications the best. She again references the deceased man, saying that he had such high hopes for Valhalla, and wonders about the cause of his death, but shakes the thoughts from her head and goes on her way to visit the Center. Alfred is left behind in the mansion, and thinks about the man as well, calling him his old master and describing him as far too stubborn to bend to the whims of the Center. Even if he had not died in an accident, he would likely have come into conflict with the Center either way, and says that Madam had served him well, so he has faith that she will be able to succeed in her negotiations and make Valhalla prosper even more than he did.
In "Golden Locket", Alfred comes in at the end after Thomas Tank has left for the Center. She laments the fate of the people who leave for the Center, for even if in Valhalla they were poor, at least they were free. Alfred tries to assuage her and tell her not to think about it, leaving her to resolve that she must keep allowing it to protect as many people in Valhalla as possible.
