Shinto Shrines are recurring locations in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Overview

In Persona, shrines are activity hubs similar to real-life Shinto shrines where visitors can draw fortunes, make offerings, and interact with smaller sub-shrines dedicated to Inari Ōkami.

Game Appearances

Persona 3

Main article: Naganaki Shrine

The protagonist can visit Naganaki Shrine located near the dorm in Iwatodai. There, he can meet Social Links and draw fortunes for his academics or his friends. It is also the setting for some story events. In Persona 3 Portable and Persona 3 Reload, the protagonists can get Skill Cards duplicated at the sub-shrine.

Persona 4

Main article: Tatsuhime Shrine

The local community shrine is Tatsuhime Shrine in the Central Shopping District and the patron deity is Toyotamahime. It is the setting for story events such as the summer festival, and a fox living on the shrine grounds is the focus of the Hermit Social Link. In Persona 4 Golden, Tatsuhime becomes a map that the protagonist can enter.
