Profile

Origin

A Shoggoth is a type of creature created by the Elder Things in the works of H. P. Lovecraft. They are mentioned prominently in At the Mountains of Madness (1936), where they are described as 15-foot-long, amorphous, fleshy blobs that can superficially shape themselves into any organic matter. These abilities were used by the Elder Things to construct their civilisation, before the Shoggoths eventually evolved sentience and rose up in rebellion and eradicated the species. When building their own civilisation thereafter, they imported a 5-pointed building style of architecture. They cry "Tekeli-li!" continuously, seemingly in constant pain. Shoggoths would go on to be used in other stories, where their abilities would be further explored.
