Profile

Origin

Shirayama-hime[a] or Hakusan Myōri Daigongen[b] is a deity worshiped at Shirayama Shrine, now identified as the same as Kukuri-hime due to the policies of State Shinto. She is a deification of the Hakusan mountain.[1]

Hakusan uses Chinese-derived pronunciation, while Shirayama uses native Japanese pronunciation of the same characters. Both names mean "white mountain".
