Which came first: the chicken or the egg? |
You've got quite the eye for perplexing enigmas... Ahh, the eternal paradox of the egg-chicken conundrum—a question akin to the cycle of reincarnation, leaving generations tormented by helpless confusion. I am a far cry from a martyr, yet were I able to deliver their weary brains from such anguish by spinning the forbidden truth... well, let's just say one bite from the apple of knowledge bears a ruinous weight that could fracture the foundations of our existence—a truth best kept concealed from the masses...

What's your favorite season of the year? |
Undeniably, fall reigns supreme. 'Tis the twilight of seasons where one can savor the fading heat of summer and the creeping chill of winter... Oh yeah, and the seasonal deserts in fall are really good, too.

Do you have any daily rituals? |
Every night before I sleep, I choose a book to read at school upon the morrow. Otherwise, I've got nothing to do during recess... Err, I mean, one marked by destiny must ever fortify his wisdom! I also pick out reading material to recommend to my fellow kindred spi— I mean, an upperclassman at school.

Which would you choose: the power of the legendary sword, or the legendary fist? |
While the fabled blade remains a classic choice, such righteous finery ill suits those destined to be struck by unseen perils. After all, the path of the chosen one is unconventional... so perhaps the fist is my true calling? (...Though, to be honest, the thought of punching someone does seem kinda scary...)

I'm really curious to know what you want to be when you grow up. I bet you dream big, since you're a chosen one and all. |
To a chosen one, a future is not guaranteed. In fact, we serve to protect the future of others, heh... Thought, if the gods of fate permit it... m-maybe, like, a civil servant...?

What is your best memory with your family? I'd love to know more about how you were brought up! |
In my tender years, I was cursed with a frail body, spending my days confined within the walls of the infirmary. Back in the day, my parents bore the burden of my weakness, and we nary ever could go on vacation... Instead, they offered me books to sate my idle hours. And thus, I became an avid reader. Now, my body is healthy and strong, and I needn't concern my parents any longer. Upon speaking of my senpai to my parents, they even offered to welcome him to our humble abode... b-but that's a little too soon, don't you think?

Why did you choose to go to Kokatsu Academy? Did you feel something calling to you...? |
As much as I would like to claim that my inner intuition led me here... honestly, it was just a matter of my grades, and being a close commute from home... However, it is no exaggeration to say that fate brought my attention to the numerous threats haunting these corridors!

What is your favorite ingredient in oden? |
Hanpen, without question. Its softness rivals that of the cloudy heavens. Now, I know some may consider this a sin against gastronomy, but my darkest indulgence is to taint the broth with a heap of rice. I purchase my oden and a salted onigiri at the convenience store, eat up all the ingredients, then throw in the rice. In my defiance against the scorn of society, I savor that sweet, forbidden taste.

How did you discover that you were a chosen one? |
Hehe... Good question. Ever since I was young, I have seen and felt things that elude most commonfolk. Thus, I knew a special gift was woven into my being from the moment I drew my first breath in this world. But envy it not, for the chosen ones walk a lonely path... denied of the humble joys others take for granted.

What's your favorite subject at school? |
I'm fairly good at English, but if I had to choose a favorite, it would be classical Japanese. What many deem inscrutable, I see as nothing more than light novels from a time foregone.

Do you have a favorite phrase or saying? |
All or nothing—a creed most befitting of a chosen one who treads the knife's edge on a daily basis. Fate does not always smile upon us, and there are times when we must even surrender to it... Heh, the cursed privilege of the chosen ones...

Happy birthday! Since it's so close to Christmas, do people usually lump both your Christmas and birthday presents together? |
Heh, why thank you. But I'm afraid I must point out a flaw in your question. You see, my birthday presents are given to me by my parents, while Christmas presents are the sole dominion of Santa Claus. Fundamentally, there is no way they can simply be "lumped together" when provided by two completely independent parties.

Happy birthday, Kurotani-kun! Do you have a favorite animal? |
Thank you for your blessings. Though animals stir little passion within me, if I was forced to choose, I would say the owl. They are considered sages of the forest, after all. Imagine concealing an owl companion in one's school bag... Seems most befitting of a chosen one, does it not? Of course, even I recognize how unrealistic that would be...

Do you sleep well at night? How do you get to sleep on days you can't? |
Sleepless nights... The unfortunate fate that chosen ones must suffer. When I close my eyes, unpleasant memories from my past—I mean, phantoms of begone battles assail my mind anew. I find a cup of warm milk helps soothe a tortured mind such as my own. I particularly savor the skin that forms on the top...

My left hand has been pulsing with energy... How do I calm it? |
Could it be that you're one of the chosen ones as well? If you haven't mastered your power, I would strongly recommend concealing yourself from the public eye. And if you're actually experiencing any serious symptoms or discomfort, you should go to a hospital. Even the deadliest illnesses can sometimes be cured if they're found early.

What do you think of your Persona and thief attire? |
My Persona wields the power of fire—a testament to how my own body must bear its searing heat as I purge my foes with the flames of condemnation. Truly a power befitting of someone of my caliber. And yes... Then there's my chic Phantom Thief outfit. The mask lends a layer of enticing mystique, where revealing my true identity merely evokes a deeper level of fascination...

Oh great Kurotani, tell us of your daily strength training routine. |
Every night before I succumb to the peace of slumber, I train with unwavering resolve: two sets of twenty push-ups, sit-ups, and then back extensions. Heh, with this sacred ritual, I shall sculpt a body worthy of a chosen one! I've even started to see a bit of a bicep forming. The day my abs turn into a full six=pack masterpiece is nigh!

Kurotani-kun, I hear you're an avid reader. Mind if I ask what do you read exactly? |
I like to immerse myself in literature on the occult, and often mind myself descending down rabbit holes of mythology and folklore from all corners of the world. Light novels and mystery books also have a way of finding their way into my collection. Some may look down on fiction, but I believe these stores are the immortal echo of the human imagination—the crystalized legacy of mankind!
