Profile

Origin

Kaguya-hime[a] is a character in the Heian-period Japanese folk story Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. She was discovered as an infant within a stalk of bamboo by a bamboo cutter, and from thenceforth every time the bamboo cutter cut down a bamboo stalk, he would find gold inside. Kaguya-hime quickly grew into a fully-grown beautiful woman, and five suitors tried to woo Kaguya-hime. She gave each of them impossible tasks and promised to wed the one who can complete their assigned task; all of the suitors failed. After this, the Japanese emperor visited and fell in love with Kaguya-hime. However, Kaguya-hime revealed that she must return to her true home on the moon, and that she had been sent to earth as punishment. She gave the emperor the elixir of immortality, but the emperor destroyed it, not wishing to live eternally without Kaguya-hime.

Design

Kaguya-Hime is portrayed as a black-haired woman wearing a red kimono and riding in a UFO. The UFO is in reference to Kaguya-Hime being from the moon.
