Origin

Hanaël is one of the twelve angels which preside over the signs, a concept of the 16th-century German scholar and occultist Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa. In a table showing correspondences between groups of twelve, Hanaël corresponds to the Innocents order of blessed spirits (not one of the normal nine angelic orders), the zodiac sign Capricorn, the month December, and malefici (wrongdoers) in the hierarchy of the damned and demons, among other things.
