Origin

Gabiel or Gambiel is one of the twelve angels which preside over the signs, a concept of the 16th-century German scholar and occultist Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa. In a table showing correspondences between groups of twelve, Gabiel corresponds to the Martyrs order of blessed spirits (not one of the normal nine angelic orders), the zodiac sign Aquarius, the month January, and apostatae (apostates) in the hierarchy of the damned and demons, among other things.
