Exams refer to a series of Challenge Quests in Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse. They are Challenge Quests that challenge Nanashi to reach certain milestones within the game. They are comparable to game achievements.
Overview
Exams task Nanashi with reaching certain milestones during the game, such as scouting a certain number of Demons or locating a certain number of Relics. Exams are unlocked as Nanashi reaches certain levels. They are automatically completed once Nanashi achieves the milestone and progress for the quests is collected even if the quest has not been unlocked.

Why hello there. I'm Betty. I run the skill quest tests. Let's start you off with something simple. How about recruiting ten demons! Remember, your performance is tracked on your phone, so you don't need to return here once you have all ten.
Well, good luck, hotshot.

|
Hey there. Just got your report. Looks like that was a real walk in the park, for you. With all those new demons, you should be ready for anything. Well, see you at the next skill test!

|
Looks like you were able to meet the goal. The more relics we find, the better everyone gets to liv, so I encourage you
to sell them as soon as you find any. Everyone wins, including your wallet. Well, I'll see you in the next test.

Hey again! Today's test is something all Hunters should know how to do--performing demon fusions! Should be pretty easy, right? I think 15 demon fusions ought to do it.

|
Looks like you're really getting the hang of demon fusions. That's good--It's a necessary skill for obtaining stronger demons. I mean, there's nothing wrong with Scouting, but I've been told that you can only get some demons by learning how to fuse them. Keep at it!

Congrats on finishing that test! You're getting pretty good at this. Random aside, how are you spending the Macca you've earned? Using it to help recruit demons is all well and fine, but I would suggest you spend it at shops, too. I know it seems like I'm butting in on your business, but I can't help but share important advice! Anyhow, see you next time around!
