Colt's Otherworld Training Diary is an event in Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2 that is part of a collaboration with Monster Rancher 2. It is to be held from July 8 to July 21, 2026.

2nd week of July, 1001. Weather: clear. Here, I leave for posterity a record of a very strange experience I had.

Synopsis

Colt, a monster breeder assistant from Pangaea, writes in her diary recounting how she had traveled to another world and the events that transpired: One day, while attending to her monsters Mocchi, Suezo, and Phoenix following a tournament loss, Colt's pet toucan Joy alerts them to a black hole that inexplicably appeared. As Colt tries to steer the curious monsters away from it, the hole suddenly expands and sucks in everyone.

When Colt next awakes, she finds themselves within an Aura Gate, though they are all unfamiliar with the place. Joy takes flight and Colt runs after it. Elsewhere in the Aura Gate, the Neo Liberators arrive to scout out a group of Demons. Joy then shortly appears and the group follow the bird to where Colt and her monsters are. Colt explains to the Liberators that she needs to return home immediately for an upcoming tournament, and is informed that in order to leave the Aura Gate, the group will have to find and defeat the Demon responsible for it. The Neo Liberators opt to bring Colt and her monsters with them for her safety.

While searching the Aura Gate, Joy brings the group's attention to a large group of Demons gathered. Joy's caws alerts Wu Kong, the leader of the Demons, to the Neo Liberators and he beckons them to join their combat tournament: the Devil Cup. Anyone who wins the tournament will be permitted to face himself in battle. While Wu Kong allows the Neo Liberators to come watch, he declares that only Colt and her monsters may enter his tournament as the ones invited. Left with no other choice, Colt agrees to the terms as the tournament commences, with Demons facing-off each other each round. Eventually, Colt comes to face a Momunofu. Although afraid as she has never formally entered a tournament before, Colt reassures herself that she has seen enough battles to know what she is doing.

With Colt's orders, Mocchi dodges Momunofu's attack, but Colt soon after begins to falter with indecision. Just as Momunofu is about to strike Colt, Suezo appears and smacks the Demon with its tail. Phoenix then sets Momunofu ablaze and Mocchi follows through with a body slam, defeating Momunofu as Wu Kong declares Colt the winner. However in the following round, Colt's monsters are all soundly defeated by a much stronger Oni. Colt apologizes to the Neo Liberators for losing the tournament, but they reassure her that they are just relieved that nobody was hurt. The group watch the remainder of the tournament as the Oni defeats every other combatant, earning the right to face Wu Kong. However, Wu Kong effortlessly throws Oni out of bounds in a single hit. Disappointed in the combatants' weakness, Wu Kong declares that everyone will be given one month to train, whereupon he will hold the True Devil Cup.

In that time, Colt and the Neo Liberators leave the Aura Gate and return to the Liberators' Hideout. Colt worries that she may never be able to return home, yet the Liberators encourage her to have faith and assist with her monsters' training. A month later, the group return to the Aura Gate and enter the True Devil Cup. Colt faces Horkos first, and defeats him with her monsters' combo attacks. Eventually, Colt manages to beat every other participant and win the True Devil Cup, and is permitted to face Wu Kong next. In the ensuing match, Wu Kong proves to be a formidable opponent as he quickly strikes Colt's monsters and blocks their attacks. Just when Colt believes they are about to lose, her three monsters comfort her and continue their offensive, demonstrating the results of their training under the Liberators. As Wu Kong is knocked off balance by Phoenix's Heat Beam, Mocchi pushes Wu Kong off the stage.

Wu Kong, satisfied with the fight, proudly declares Colt the victor and agrees to send her and her monsters home. As he disappears, the Aura Gate begins to collapse. Colt bids a final farewell to the Liberators just before she and her monsters fade away. Back in their homeworld, Colt ends her diary entry wondering if everything until then had been a dream, but concludes that it had been real when seeing how strong her monsters have gotten. Although they do not achieve the same success as before in other tournaments, Colt resolves that she will continue to work hard everyday.

Gameplay

The event is held in Aura Gate SP where the player must explore the dungeon to earn points.
