Atlus Art Exhibit 2019: Persona 5 Royal & Catherine: Full Body Showcase featuring Shigenori Soejima was an art exhibit on display from August 17, 2019 to September 1, 2019. A collaboration between Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California, and Atlus, the exhibit featured both fan-made and official artwork for Persona 5 Royal and Catherine: Full Body.

Exhibition Features

General admission for the exhibit was completely free. During all days of the exhibition, high-quality prints of official key and concept artwork for both games were on all walls, with concept art being on the second floor of the building. Over a dozen fan-made works of tribute art were on display as well. A chalk board was present as an interactive installation for attendees to use, and featured a large Morgana in the center drawn by Soejima.[1] There was also a photo-op wall, where attendees could take photos with a worker in a Morgana mascot costume. Attendees were encouraged to post pictures of their visit to social media with #ATLUSartshow.

Atlus partnered with a local catering company, Okamoto Kitchen, to provide food out of a Persona 5 styled food truck.[2] The truck provided a variety of items, with the main draws being a Big Bang Burger for Persona 5 and a Kara-age Sampler for Catherine: Full Body. All purchases came with a free sticker. Atlus and Okamoto Kitchen had previously worked together for a food truck at Anime Expo 2017, and the truck was reused for this art exhibit.

Opening Reception

The exhibition had its opening reception on August 17, 2019 from 1:00PM to 7:00PM. The reception allowed attendees to meet Soejima and pre-register for a signing/panel session later in the day. The first 500 attendees to enter the building received a free door prize, and all purchases (while supplies were available) came with a free exhibition poster. A short panel was held during the reception; Soejima was interviewed about his design process for both Persona 5 Royal and Catherine: Full Body, and he was joined by Naoto Hiraoka, the Managing Director and Executive Producer of Persona 5 Royal.[3] After the interview portion of the panel concluded, a special trailer for Persona 5 Royal was shown to the audience, revealing the estimated release date of Spring 2020. The trailer was posted to Atlus West's YouTube channel shortly after the panel ended.[4] A handful of limited edition prints were revealed and sold, with the remaining stock getting listed for purchase on the exhibit's website.

Signing Sessions

During the opening day, August 17, there were two signing sessions held to allow attendees to get a piece of merchandise signed by Soejima. One of the signing sessions was immediately after the interview panel ended, the other was later in the day. The signing sessions required registration, and visitors were only allowed to attend one of the two signing sessions. Staff of the exhibit handed out free posters to be signed, but visitors were also able to purchase the Shigenori Soejima & P-Studio Art Unit Art Works 2 book to be signed as well, which had its first official English release debut at the exhibit. No other merchandise or personal items could be signed other than the free posters or the Art Works 2 book, and attendees were only allowed one signature per person.
