This guardian's identity is disputed. While the Shin Megami Tensei Demons Bible (published in 2003 by Shinkigensha) claims its identity to be 神龍 shénlóng, this is unlikely due to phonetic dissimilarity with this guardian's name ティンロン tinron; shénlóng is typically transcribed into Japanese as シェンロン shenron. 天龍 tiānlóng is more phonetically suitable, though a more precise transcription would be ティエンロン tienron; however, in Cantonese, 天龍 is pronounced tin1 lung4.
