Zenkichi Hasegawa is a playable character of Persona 5 Strikers. He is a member of Public Security investigating the change of heart epidemic.

Profile

Zenkichi is a Public Security inspector and a single father to Akane Hasegawa. However, due to his line of work, he does not spend much time with her at home. His wife Aoi was killed in a vehicular manslaughter, and he promised her he would not let anything happen to their daughter, even if it killed him. Zenkichi asked the rest of the police for help. However, the police couldn't help him, so he opened his own investigation to pursue his wife's killer. As he was investigating, he received a threatening letter which said that if he did not stop, his daughter would die. After the letter, Zenkichi dropped the investigation and began to focus only on Akane's safety.

Zenkichi is originally tasked to get information on the current change of heart epidemic with the Phantom Thieves, and use them if moment were to arise. However, as he spends time with them, he begins to know and bond with them, specially when they help clear a misunderstanding with his daughter and help her.

When the Phantom Thieves are falsely accused and placed under an arrest warrant while he is Osaka, Zenkichi rushes to the inn at Kyoto where they were staying and screams at them to escape, ending in his arrest. Eventually, the Phantom Thieves except for Oracle get captured by Shadow Akane in Kyoto Jail, when they were trying to rescue a supposedly kidnapped Akane. When Futaba meets with Zenkichi, they devise a plan to go back to the Metaverse and free the Phantom Thieves, even though Zenkichi did not have a Persona. They infiltrate the jail and find where the Phantom Thieves are being held by Shadow Akane, which Zenkichi confronts and tells her all that has happened since her mother's death. After getting reprimanded by Akane, Zenkichi realizes he's been wrong this whole time, resolving his sense of justice and awakening to his persona Valjean, swearing to condemn and hunt all the evil in the world.

He then frees the Phantom Thieves and joins them, getting his codename Wolf.
