StreetPass is a communication system and core feature of the Nintendo 3DS line of game consoles. It exchanges information between consoles when they pass by each other. Often, it affords the player a bonus in various games which support the feature.
Game Appearances
Shin Megami Tensei IV
StreetPass functionality in Shin Megami Tensei IV is unlocked after purchasing the Digital Demon Service app in-game. StreetPass tags with other Shin Megami Tensei IV players will grant the player bonus app points and the ability to perform special fusions.[1] Up to 12 StreetPass tags for the game can be stored at a time.
Players can attach a Demon that they own to a card, losing access to that Demon in the process. A player can set their card to be white or black, with white cards having the attached Demon's stats be increased for each tag and black cards having the attached Demon be fused at random for each tag. Demons attached to cards will also collect items as gifts for the player, regardless of the card's color. In addition, the Digital Demon Service app can be used in battle to perform a special Assist attack, with its power varying depending on the number of accumulated StreetPass tags.[2]
An update released for the game will grant players additional app points for connecting with systems who are playing Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers or Etrian Odyssey IV.[3].
Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse
Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers
- Main article: Nemechi
In the 3DS version, the player gets "D-Souls" when connecting with other 3DS systems through StreetPass, which can be used to buy special new Demons created for this version or alternate designs for existing Demons. A demon called Nemechi grows with each StreetPass tag, starting as a wisp and growing into many different forms.[4]
Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker
Connecting with other players gives stat and skill bonuses, which are randomly determined.[5]
Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth
Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth
In Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth, players can set a specific Persona as tradeable, and it will be automatically traded with players who use StreetPass. If a Persona received from StreetPass is a higher level than the current highest-level party member, it will be added to the Compendium, but will not be summonable.[6]
