Kyoto is a location in the Persona series. It is directly based on the real life Kyoto City in the Kansai region of Japan. It is notable for being the former residence of the Japanese emperor prior to the Meiji Restoration, when the emperor's residence was moved to Tokyo.

Persona 3

In November of 2009, 2nd and 3rd year students from Gekkoukan High go to Kyoto for their class trip. They stay at Godaigo Inn in the Higashiyama area. A photo taken during day 2 of the class trip shows the characters visiting Kinkaku-ji. Later, Yukari Takeba and Mitsuru Kirijo meet up alongside the Kamogawa near the Sanjo Bridge where Mitsuru's Persona evolves into Artemisia.

Persona 3 Portable

The female protagonist can meet with Ryoji Mochizuki alongside the Kamogawa as part of the Fortune Social Link.

Persona 3 Reload

A new photo taken during day 2 of the class trip shows the characters visiting Kiyomizudera. The male protagonist can meet with Ryoji alongside the Kamogawa for his 4th Link Episode.
