Io in Greek Myth was a priestess of Hera and one of the mortal lovers of Zeus, which might explain her being in the Lovers arcana. Io initially rejected [[Zeus]]' sexual advances until she was thrown out of her house by her father on the advice of the oracles. Zeus then transformed her into a cow to hide her from Hera. Hera discovered this and asked for Io as a gift. She sent a 100 eyed giant named [[Argus]] to watch Io and keep Zeus from visiting.
