In battle, his normally beautiful appearance turned fearsome and is said to have turned away an army on its own. He was cursed to die for spurning the war goddess Morrigan's love and was impaled on his own mighty Gae Bolg. Even then, though, he tied his body to a pillar and died without ever falling.
