Orphaned as a teenager, Haru lived in hopelessness until she met the lead singer of the indie band D-VA, [[Aya]], who took her under her wing. Aya eventually encouraged Haru to take over as the lead singer. She has a close relationship with [[Gin]], Aya's boyfriend, who is like a guardian to her. Despite her life becoming better after meeting Aya, Haru still struggles with self-esteem issues and depression, believing herself to not be deserving of the lead role.
