Trivia

Nomenclature

The surname Natsukawa is composed of characters meaning "summer" and "river". The given name Mio is derived from the Japanese word 水緒 mio, literally meaning "water-cord", referring to a waterway, or a ship's wake. The codename Matoi is a reference to the matoi,[a] a standard (pole) decorated with strips of paper used by hikeshi,[b] Japanese firefighters of the Edo period, to draw attention to other firefighters.
