Nomenclature
Hiraṇya (Sanskrit: हिरण्य, romanized hiraṇya) is a Sanskrit word associated with gold.[1] It is presumed to be associated with the recurring item in Megami Tensei due to hexagon-shaped spiritual pendants called hiranyas being sold in Japan during the 80s.[2] The Japanese name of the item may be a pun on 平屋 hiraya ("one-story house").
