Profile

Origin

Daidarabotchi (大座法師 Daidarabotchi, lit. "Big Seated Monk") is a yōkai in Japanese folklore who boasts a gargantuan humanoid form, and in some depictions, resembles a bald monk. He is credited for shaping the geography of Japan, having erected mountains from soil, valleys from his long strides, and numerous lakes from his footprints. Daidarabotchi also possesses insatiable curiosity, once using a giant scale to compare the weight of Mt. Fuji to Mt. Tsukuba, which resulted in Mt. Tsukuba's peak splitting apart and creating its unique twin summit. To expand his territory, Daidarabotchi used ropes to pull land from Silla, a kingdom in the eastern Korean peninsula, and append it to Japan―a process called "land-pulling" (国引き kunibiki).

Design

Daidarabotchi is a tall humanoid made of gray stone, with mechanical arms and hands. His face consists of a white mask with glowing yellow eyes and a gemstone on his forehead.
