Origin

Cthugha is a Great Old One within the Cthulhu Mythos produced by H.P. Lovecraft's apprentice and friend, August William Derleth. It is first mentioned in The House on Curwen Street in Weird Tales in March 1944,[1] but makes its first formal appearance in The Dweller in Darkness in November 1944. Here, it is depicted as a giant red fireball mistaken for the sun, which was summoned to defeat an avatar of Nyarlathotep, as it is the one being Nyarlathotep fears.[2]

Design

Cthugha's design is that of a green eye with black sclera engulfed in fire.
