Profile

Origin

In Chapter 11 of the Book of Genesis, people began to build a tower at Babel (i.e. Babylon) in the plain of Shinar that would reach the heavens. But God, in order to prevent this, caused the people to speak different languages so that they could not understand one another. The tower's construction was consequently aborted, and the people scattered over the whole earth.
