Move Proposal

As this page was marked for moving to "Blasted Tokyo", I will state that I have to disagree with the argument made that Blasted Tokyo is "also the name used by the game itself."

I have extensively researched dialogue in SMT IV by taking a whole drive's worth of pictures, and actually nowhere does it state in-game that the world is called "Blasted Tokyo". The closest there are are the districts, which Burroughs refers to as "Blasted Shinjuku", etc, in the terminal menu. But the whole world itself is otherwise not ever referred to as "Blasted Tokyo". The inhabitants only ever refer to it as "Tokyo" and nothing more.

Both Blasted World and Blasted Tokyo, however, are used in the English publication of Shin Megami Tensei IV: Official Artworks. Blasted World was prioritized because the name is used on the page's main heading. This is the closest we can get to an official name for the location when there's none in-game. I understand most people won't know this because of how rare and poorly documented the English artbook is, but the page nonetheless does cite the book in the references.

Blasted Tokyo should redirect to this page though, and I will concede that I mistakenly forgot to do that when I created this page. As far as moving this though, I do not believe that to be necessary when "Blasted World" seems to be the more official term used. — RustyVanBurace (talk) 20:32, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
