Template:Translit/Documentation

Purpose

Similar to Template:JP but more generalized. Syntax is slightly different because meaning is a named parameter instead of a numbered parameter.

Usage

For most cases:

• 1: Language code (see Module:Translit for currently implemented ones)
• 2: Original text
• 3 (optional): Romanization
• hidelabel (optional): Set to y or 1 or something else to hide the language name
• inline (optional): Set to y or 1 or something else to hide the language name, the "romanized" label, and the comma
• meaning (optional): Meaning (applied as tooltip)

For dual Simplified and Traditional Chinese:

• 1: Language code (zh)
• 2: Simplified text
• 3: Traditional text
• 4: Romanization
• meaning (optional): Meaning (applied as tooltip)

If you need both Chinese scripts but do not want a romanization, just put two separate ones with zh-Hans and zh-Hant as the language codes.

An ltc code exists for Middle Chinese, but the regular zh, zh-Hans, and zh-Hant should be used instead with standard Hanyu Pinyin romanization unless the Middle Chinese pronunciation is specifically relevant to the article.
