Origin

Alp is a variant spelling of "Alb", the German cognate of the word "elf".^[a] In German folklore, elves, also called Mahre ("mares"; cf. Nightmare), were believed to sit on a person's chest while they are sleeping, which was thought to be the cause of nightmares (which are called Albträume, "elf dreams", in German).

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth	A succubus of German and Swiss folklore. Originating as beings who forged mystic crafts under the mountains, they came to be seen as demons who prevented people from sleeping and caused illness.
