The deletion policy of Megami Tensei Wiki defines the criteria for which pages or files can be deleted.

General

Wiki staff are able to delete pages or files off of the wiki and, only if necessary, remove entire page histories as well. With the exception of obvious spam or requested personal pages, this is an extreme measure and rarely done without careful consideration. Content pages and files must meet certain criteria to be deleted off the wiki and, depending on the page subject, may first require community discussion in a talk page before proceeding.

Most of the time, it is much more preferable to improve the quality of a page as opposed to outright deleting it. Likewise for files, it is preferable to upload a better quality as a new version over the original file as opposed to an entirely new upload (unless the new file has a different file extension, which would necessitate a separate upload).

Pages

With the obvious exception of spam, offensive content, and requested personal pages, content pages on the wiki are rarely ever deleted unless they meet certain criteria. These include:

  • The subject is off-topic to the Megami Tensei franchise, is spam, or contains offensive content that violates our Code of Conduct. These will be deleted immediately.
  • The page is on-topic to the franchise, but does not cover canon information or real-world information pertaining to the franchise. For example: Fanon topics would not be allowed.
  • The page is a duplicate of a pre-existing page on the wiki. The duplicate's content will be merged with the pre-existing page and either be turned into a redirect or deleted.
  • The page's content has been merged with another page, rendering the original page unnecessary. The original page will either be turned into a redirect or deleted.
  • The page is a user's personal page (such as a sandbox) that the user has personally requested to be deleted. User talk pages cannot be requested for deletion.

Pages suggested for deletion should be marked with Template:Delete, preferably with a reason and the date it was flagged on provided in the template parameters. {{Delete|reason=|date=}} Pages with this template are added to Category:Pages for deletion.

If a content page is believed to be unnecessary or whose content would be better suited elsewhere, then a topic in its talk page should be made to discuss whether the page should be moved, split, merged, or deleted and to allow the community to reach a consensus. These discussions will be monitored by a wiki staff member and allowed a minimal period of two weeks to discuss, whereupon the suggestion will be evaluated one more time by wiki staff and action taken in regards to general consensus.

Talk pages are never deleted for archival purposes. If in the event that a talk page has grown too long, its content will be archived.

Files

Like pages, files are not deleted unless they meet certain criteria:

  • The file is off-topic to the Megami Tensei franchise or has no wiki use, is spam, contains offensive content that violates our Code of Conduct, or has been altered by AI processing. These will be deleted immediately.
    • This also includes files uploaded by users for personal use, such as user icons or logos. These are not allowed on the wiki.
  • The file has been superseded by another upload that is of higher quality and a different file extension.
  • The file is a duplicate of a pre-existing file on the wiki, unless the duplicate is of a different file extension and requires a separate upload, whereupon it will supersede the original file.
  • The file no longer has any use on the wiki. This mainly applies to wiki images.

Files suggested for deletion should be marked with Template:Delete with the "file" parameter enabled, preferably also with a reason and date added to the template parameters. {{Delete|file=y|reason=|date=}} Files with this template are added to Category:Files for deletion. As most files only ever get deleted if they have been superseded or infringe rules, there is generally no need to hold a discussion for these.
