The group's final target was collective desires Tokyo itself, which had been overrun by a sense of apathy. Despite Shido's confession, public opinion about seems to have remained unchanged. Wanting to break to break the public's apathy, the thieves go to the depths of [[Mementos]] in order to steal its treasure, the holy grail. Upon reaching the grail the thieves learn that it is sustained by the wishes of the masses, and they cant destroy it. The grail which turns out toe be sentient, forces the thieves back to the real world before merging the real world with Mementos, the thieves are then removed form the public cognition, erasing them from existence. Waking up in the velvet Room and discovering that Igor was actually the Holy grail in disguise, Joker manages to save the other phantom thieves and the group proceeds back to the holy grail.
