Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine 『

Translation: A gigantic serpentine monster or giant that appears in the Rig Veda and other books. Its name means "obstacle" or "one who covers heaven and earth (the universe). Kasyapa, a holy sage who was plotting revenge against God, performed a ritual to bestow a creature comparable to God, and was born from a flame. He hates all living creatures and God from birth. With his huge body, he blocked the water flowing from the heavens, covered the sun with darkness, starved the earth, and caused a drought by capturing the "cloud cow" that called for rain. In several scriptures, he is depicted as a rival to Indra. When fighting Indra, he transforms into a giant serpent. Indra was once swallowed by Vritra, but escaped while Vritra was yawning. Through the mediation of Vishnu, Vritra made peace with Indra on the condition that "no god can attack me day or night, by wood, stone, iron, dry or wet. "Indra" killed "Vritra" by attacking his weak point, his mouth, at dusk, neither day nor night, with "Vajra," a weapon made from the "bone" of the holy nymph "Dadicha," which was outside the condition. The water that had been blocked at that time flowed, and the return of the "cloud cow" brought heavy rains. Since Vritra returns every year, it is said that the battle against Indra continues to be fought every year.
