Though he looks like a robot, Take-Mikazuchi is actually humanoid.[1] Soejima designed Take-Mikazuchi's arms as electricity generators since he is associated with thunder. He added the skeleton on the outer body to match the skull t-shirt that Kanji wears under his winter uniform, and also because it is common to depict someone's skeleton when they are struck by lightning. At the same time, some Atlus staff pointed out the irony in this design since being able to see the skeleton would indicate that Take-Mikazuchi is the one getting electrocuted, rather than the one doing the electrocuting.[2] This ironic design element repeats with Kanji's next persona, Rokuten-Maoh, who embodies Oda Nobunaga and depicts flames.
In Golden, Kanji starts with Take-Mikazuchi. It transfigures into Rokuten-Maoh upon maxing his Social Link, and can further transfigure into Takeji-Zaiten during winter.
When Izanagi killed the fire god Kagutsuchi, who caused his wife Izanami to die in childbirth, the thunder god Take-Mikazuchi was born out of his blood. Take-Mikazuchi was sent along with Futsunushi to pacify the rebellious gods and take control of Izumo for Amaterasu's grandson, Ninigi.
