On December 24, 199X, Takaharu is born in Harajuku Hospital alongside Masaki Kuzuha. While both boys are left unattended, Paku the Cupid comes to visit Takaharu, gifting him the power of Angels to make him an Angel Child. As for Masaki, Harmil the Imp grants him Devil Child powers. Masaki arrives late due to encountering Devils on his way to school, attending class with his new partner Clay the Chimera. After class, Takaharu asks Masaki to meet Shou at Harajuku Park and take her home, as he has to attend a Student Council meeting. Although Masaki accepts, he cannot cannot fathom why Takaharu finds Student Council work interesting, to which Takaharu argues that his job is paramount to improving the school.
Finding Shou at a subway construction site near the park, Masaki and Clay prepare to take her home, when Midir suddenly emerges from the site and inflicts Shou with the Dark Slumber.
