東北地方で信仰される家の神で、養蚕の神。オシラ神、オシラ仏、オコナイ様などとも呼ばれる。
オシラサマは３０センチ程の長さの桑の木や竹で作った２体１組の偶像を御神体とする。その姿は馬頭、姫、男女、僧侶などである。
「おしら遊び」というオシラサマの祭日には、イタコがおしら祭文を唱えながら、御神体を両手に取って動かす。これを「遊ばせる」という。おしら祭文には、オシラサマの由来と養蚕の起こりが記されている。Translation: Place of origin: Japan
A household deity worshiped in the Tōhoku region, a god of silkworms. Also known by such names as Oshiragami, Oshirabutsu, and Okonai-sama.
Oshira-sama's vessels consist of a pair of 30-centimeter-long idols made from mulberry wood or bamboo. Their forms include Horse-Face, a princess, a man or woman, or a monk.
On the festival day for Oshira-sama, "Oshira-asobi", an itako chants the Oshira-Saimon while moving the vessel around with both hands. The Oshira-Saimon describes the origin of Oshira-sama as well as the the genesis of sericulture.

A god of the house and silkworms worshiped in northeast Japan. The goshintai is usually made of a pair of idols made from mulberry bark or bamboo, dressed in clothing called osendaku, and have faces painted or carved into them. In the festival for Oshira-sama, "Oshira-sama Asobi", a blind priestess known as an itako chants phrases while moving the two goshintai around. The phrases include the origin of Oshira-sama and the beginning of silkworms.
