Social Link

This section is a stub. You can help Megami Tensei Wiki by expanding it.
Reason: The Social Link information was compiled from the Persona 4 The Golden: The Complete Guide. It is missing:
  • PS2 P4 availability schedule, rank up points, dialogue options & points, dungeon chat info
  • P4G evening hangout dialogue and winter rank up friendship dialogue

Naoto is the Fortune Social Link. Naoto's Social Link can be started on October 22, 2011 at the earliest, though maximum Courage and Knowledge are required to begin the Social Link. In addition, a card must be retrieved from the Man in Black in the North Shopping District before beginning the Social Link, a task that can be completed as early as October 21, 2011. Completion of the Fortune Social Link rewards the Detective Badge which permits the fusion of Norn in the Velvet Room, and will cause Naoto's Persona to transfigure from Sukuna-Hikona to Yamato-Takeru.

In Persona 4 Golden, Naoto's Social Link remains largely unchanged, though there are some differences. Naoto now obtains skills as the Fortune Social Link is completed, with one skill being gained every two ranks. At rank 3 of Naoto's Social Link, Naoto gains the ability to perform follow-up attacks. If the Protagonist knocks down an enemy, there is a chance that Naoto will ask to perform a follow-up that will critically hit and apply the dizzy status effect to some enemies. Additionally, if Naoto is in the party at the same time as Kanji Tatsumi, there is a chance that the two will perform a follow-up attack after an all-out attack that does not successfully kill all enemies.

If the Protagonist spends time with Naoto during Persona 4 Golden's added wintertime gameplay sections and the Fortune Social Link has been completed, Yamato-Takeru will transfigure into Yamato-Sumeragi, Naoto's Ultimate Persona.

Naoto can be found on 1F of Yasogami High School on school days, and near the Samegawa Flood Plain on holidays.

Due to being the last party member and joining the Investigation Team late, Naoto has somewhat irregular Social Link availability in the afternoon.[1] For the most part, Naoto is available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday, but not always:

  • October 22, 24, 25, 26
  • November 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 22, 24, 25, 26

  • February 1, 4

Additionally:

  • Naoto will not be available for any of the dates between November 5th and November 20th if the victim is still in the TV.
  • During the evening, Naoto can found in the south area of the Central Shopping District. Naoto is only available for evening hangouts on specific dates, though generally Naoto shows up on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. Check the specific section for more about that.
  • Naoto will appear at Moel Gas Station during the daytime for scooter rides on the following dates: Oct 31, Nov 13, Jan 12, 19, 26, and Feb 2, 5.[1] On these days, Naoto will only be available for scooter rides, not any regular daytime Social Link. Furthermore, Naoto will not be available on November 13th if the victim is still inside the TV.

For the full list of day-by-day Social Link availability, see the Calendar in Persona 4 Golden.

Dungeon Chats

This section is a stub. You can help Megami Tensei Wiki by expanding it.
Reason: Not sure if these are the same in P4 and P4G.

When Naoto is not an active party member, they can sometimes be found in a room in the dungeon the protagonist and the main party are in. Depending on what rank the Fortune Social Link is, Naoto might have special dialogue with another character who is also not in the active party. Naoto's possible dialogue partners are Chie, Kanji, and the fox. Furthermore, Naoto can give the protagonist an item once per day: Mini Mechavator or Milk Chocolate. If you are in a romantic relationship with Naoto, then you might receive Naoto's Candy.

Other Activities

Persona 4

Naoto is a playable character in Persona 4, joining the party on October 6th, 2011 as the eighth playable character and final member of the Investigation Team. In combat, Naoto wields a handgun alongside the Persona Sukuna-Hikona. Sukuna-Hikona allows Naoto to access Light and Dark instant-kill skills, alongside high-level Physical and Almighty attacks, and the Mind Charge buff. Upon completion of the Fortune Social Link, Naoto's Persona will transfigure to Yamato-Takeru, which gives Naoto immunity to Dark and Light, as well as a resistance to Fire.

Persona 4 Arena / Persona 4 Arena Ultimax

Naoto appears as a playable character alongside the rest of the Investigation Team in Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Unique in many ways, Naoto's game plan changes depending on the situation. Guns, traps, and powerful anti-airs help keep the opponent away when Naoto does not want them to be close, while powerful lunges and normal attacks allow Naoto to play offensively. Additionally, Naoto has a unique mechanic- the Fate gauge. The Fate gauge is placed on the combatant facing Naoto, starts at 13, and can be depleted by performing certain actions. Reducing the Fate gauge to zero will allow Naoto to utilize Hamaon and Mudoon, supers that instantly kill the opponent. Generally, Naoto is a strong character with tools to deal with many situations, though these strengths are offset by Naoto's dependence on Sukuna-Hikona and meter, as well as the resource management required to use Naoto's various assets proficiently.

Move List
Move Input
Notation
Notes
Shield of Justice B+D Counter move with several follow-ups if Naoto is hit while performing it. A/B/C/D is a short range burst shot that knocks the opponent away and remove 3 Fate from the counter. →A/B/C/D is a horizontal projectile that knocks the opponent away. It removes 2 Fate on hit. ←A/B/C/D has Naoto perform a backdash.
Double Fangs ↓↘→+A/B
236A/B
Naoto jumps forward and kicks twice. Both hits are head attribute moves, meaning they cannot be blocked while crouching. ↓↘→+A is the faster and less damaging variant of the move. It is also the version that has Naoto travel the least. ↓↘→+B is the slower and more damaging version of the move. ↓↘→+A+B requires 25 meter and is identical to ↓↘→+B, but is much faster. Naoto is in Snipe stance after completing all grounded variants of the move.
Snipe ↓↙←+A/B
214A/B
Naoto enters a stance in which movement and defensive mechanics are restricted. In exchange, Naoto can press A, B, or C to fire bullets in different directions, D to exit the stance, and →D to perform a special finisher. ↓↙←+A enters the stance in place. ↓↙←+B has Naoto do a cartwheel backwards before entering the stance. ↓↙←+A+B requires 25 meter, and has Naoto roll forwards before entering the stance.
Snipe shots A/B/C after ↓↙←+A/B
214A/B>A/B/C
Each button fires the bullet in a different trajectory. A bullets go straight forward, B bullets are shot down but ricochet upwards, and C shots are fired diagonally upwards from Naoto. Naoto has a total of 5 bullets, and must wait for them to recharge before firing them again should they be expended. The fifth shot only will remove 1 Fate on hit. Additionally, Naoto can press A+B, B+C, or A+C respectively to perform SP versions of A bullets, B bullets, and C bullets respectively. Each bullet costs 25 meter to fire and take away 2 Fate on hit.
Burst shot →+D after ↓↙←+A/B
214A/B>6D
Move similar to the A/B/C/D follow-up to Naoto's Shield of Justice. This removes 1 Fate and can be done with no bullets. →C+D requires 25 meter, and is similar to the →A/B/C/D follow up to Shield of Justice. If the projectile hits, it will remove 2 Fate.
Blight ↓↘→+C/D
236C/D
Sukuna-Hikona travels upwards diagonally and deals damage. The ↓↘→+C version has Sukuna-Hikona travel from Naoto's position while the ↓↘→+C version has Sukuna-Hikona travel forwards before moving diagonally upwards. ↓↘→+C+D requires 25 meter and allows Naoto to act immediately upon Sukuna-Hikona appearing. All versions apply poison on hit.
Hair-Trigger Megido ↓↙←+C/D
