COMPs are wrist computers featured in most Megami Tensei media, which contain the Demon Summoning Program and various other features. In Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, Shin Megami Tensei IV, and Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse the player could spend app points on various apps for it.
In Shin Megami Tensei IV and Apocalypse, the COMPs are worn by the Samurai as Gauntlets.
In the Devil Summoner series, there are COMP devices modeled after guns known as GUMPs. In Soul Hackers 2, GUMPs can also function as guns.
In the Devil Children series, Devil Children use pocket PCs called Vinecoms, which store Demons and load them into Devilisers for summoning.

After picking up the Demon Summoning Program the protagonist can go to room 2-H on the 3rd floor and talk to Professor Yahata, who gives you a COMP he created. After this point the player can access a map and summon demons.[3]

- The Megami Tensei franchise's use of worn COMPs was originally inspired by the 1984 movie The Dungeonmaster, whose protagonist wears a sleeve-like computer on his arm.[4]
- In Devil Survivor, the COMPs were initially an original design inspired by FOMA brand phones, but Nintendo specifically requested to have the COMPs resemble the Nintendo DS system.[5]
