The Elve's crew, including Zelenin, was imprisoned in Sector Bootes by Mithras and used for torture and human experimentation. The ship itself was left in Sector Carina, where Arthur detects it and its gravitational radio, which could be used to communicate back with the Project on Earth.
Horkos finds the ship and devours it, becoming fused with it and its plasma shield, making it immune to any of the attacks that the Strike Team attempts to use. While eating more, Horkos consumes Bugaboo, which enrages Jimenez.
Mastema offers his help, being able to make the Shibboleth with a Demon of the Megami race and the Wilder race. Taking the Shibboleth to Irving who then makes the Horkos Buster. Armed with the Horkos Buster, the protagonist, Zelenin, and Jimenez return to try and fight Horkos, who becomes weakened upon being shot with the device. Injured, he retreats.
Zelenin rediscovered Horkos's location, and sends it to the protagonist. They reconfront the ruling demon, who retreats once again upon being shot and weakened once more. Being found once more, Horkos is incredibly weakened and is shot with the Buster once more. Not able to retreat very far, Horkos is shot and is finally separated from the Elve.
Jimenez and the protagonist go inside the ship to salvage the ship's gravitational radio. While doing so, Jimenez discovered Bugaboo's Source, which can be used to resuscitate the demon with Irving's help.
- End of spoilers.
