The Conception is a major apocalyptic event in Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne and Shin Megami Tensei V related to the birth of a new world.

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne
The Conception is set into motion by Hikawa. It ravages and changes the world into an intermediary Vortex World. It is stated by the Lady in Black to be a cyclical event where universes die, its inhabitants decide the structure of the new world, and are reborn with the laws of the new Reason.[1][2][3]
Shin Megami Tensei V
The Conception occured 18 years prior to the Nahobino's awakening. As a result of the destruction to Tokyo, the Creator, through His miracle—the Shekinah Glory—recreated Tokyo and its people. Due to the death of God by the hands of Lucifer, however, the effect of the Shekinah Glory slowly began to wane as He was no longer there to sustain it.[4][5]
Trivia
- The Conception was going to happen across the entire Earth if it had not been artificially induced by Hikawa.[6]
- The Conception in Shin Megami Tensei V occurred across the 23 wards of Tokyo, with Chiyoda Ward being its center.[7][a] This was translated as having occurred in the Chiyoda Ward in the English version.[8] The line implies the Conception began in Shinjuku is added in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance.[9] While the ritual of Conception in Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne occurred in Shinjuku,[10] the center of the Conception remains unclear.[citation needed]
