Aigis
Aigis is a major character in Persona 3. She is an Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapon and one of the members of S.E.E.S..
Profile
Aigis is a 7th Generation Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapon created by the Kirijo Group. She is first encountered by the members of S.E.E.S. during their vacation on Yakushima, where she had reactivated after a decade of dormancy due to the presence of the protagonist. After joining S.E.E.S., Aigis begins attending Gekkoukan High School as a second-year student. Though Aigis was designed to look like a human, as a robotic being with very little experience she has trouble understanding and emulating the behaviors and phrases of those around her. As a result, Aigis is very formal with her speech even when inappropriate. In addition to this, many things she does or says seem strange to most, such as her insistence on remaining at the protagonist's side at all times.
Aigis has a mostly white exterior, with gold colored metal plating around her hip and shoulder joints. As an Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapon, she is designed with two Plumes of Dusk in her upper chest (termed a "Papillon Heart" by the Kirijo Group, due to the shape they form), which supply her with the 'Ego' required to summon a Persona. The mechanical parts in her ears are dry clutches, which glow red with friction, and the clips on her waist are quick fasteners similar to the hood pins on race cars, designed so that pulling them would detach the front armor of her body for maintenance.[4] When S.E.E.S. first encounters Aigis on Yakushima, she is wearing a blue and white dress that covers her mechanical limbs. When not in special attire, she wears a large red ribbon around her neck, which was given to her during prototyping by one of her lead designers. During the events of Episode Aigis: The Answer in Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Reload, Aigis is damaged and has additional battle equipment integrated for temporary repair purposes. In Persona 4 Arena and Ultimax, Aigis is seen wearing a black pant suit when among the general public, with a red tie in place of her ribbon.
Gameplay
- For complete gameplay information, see Gameplay:Aigis.
Aigis is available as a party member starting from July 21st. In battle, Aigis uses her built-in firearms and specializes in physical and support skills. Additionally, by going to the Tactics menu, she can use Orgia Mode to do increased damage on enemies, though she will overheat and be vulnerable after a certain number of turns. In Persona 3 Reload, the same effect can be achieved with her Theurgy. As a Social Link, she is available as the Aeon for the male protagonist in Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Reload as well as the female protagonist in Persona 3 Portable.
Exclusive to the Episode Aigis: The Answer expansion, she gains the power of the Wild Card and can wield multiple Personas in battle, starting with Orpheus as her initial Persona. By visiting the Velvet Room, she can fuse new Personas, setting her apart from her allies. As the main playable character, she must be in the party at all times, and falling in battle results in players receiving a game over.
Aigis also appears in Persona Q and Persona Q2, as well as featuring a fighter in Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. In Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight, she is available as one of the main dancers.
