Tactics refer to preset commands given to party member's AI in the Persona series.
Overview
Tactics were introduced in Persona 3. Party members were controlled by the game's AI and the player could assign them Tactics to follow in battle.
Starting with Persona 4, party members can now be controlled by the player with the Direct Commands option, but the Tactics system remains as an available option.

Party member tactics can be changed outside of battles in the Stats screen, or by opening the Order menu with the L2 button and selecting "Tactics" during Joker's turn in a battle. The Tactics system has the same settings as Persona 4. AI-controlled party members will use gun attacks on enemies when set to Act Freely or Conserve SP,[citation needed] or when an enemy has a weakness to them.
Persona 5 Royal
The Order menu can be opened in battle with the left trigger button on a controller, or with the T key on PC.
