Boost, formatted as BOOST, is a mechanic in the Persona Q series. It is a status effect obtained by hitting an enemy's weakness or landing a Critical Hit.

Overview

A character under the effects of Boost will act before characters without Boost, and skills used by them will cost nothing. If a Boosted character takes damage or performs any action, they will lose Boost. There is no limit to how often a character can receive a Boost; provided that a weakness is struck or an attack is Critical every turn and they do not take damage, a character can effectively be permanently Boosted.

Mechanics by Game

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth

The amount of Boosted characters influences the chances of an All-Out Attack being prompted and the chances of a Sub-Persona being acquired after battle.

Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth

A Boosted character can give their Boost to a character without it by spending 2 bars of the Party Gauge on a Baton Pass. Certain Physical skills will deal additional damage when used by a Boosted character.
